About the Founder
Nalaka Buddhadasa, the founder of Feather Trail Sri Lanka, has always been drawn to the wonders of nature. Growing up away from the city, he developed a deep passion for birdwatching, which sparked a lifelong commitment to conservation and adventure.
His journey has taken him through diverse fields-serving as a military officer, holding senior roles in the private sector, and leading sustainability programs. He has been instrumental in reforestation efforts, planting over 100,000 trees to restore natural habitats. A keen horse rider, he played a key role in establishing the equestrian facility at the Sri Lanka Military Academy in 2013. His dedication to environmental protection extended beyond Sri Lanka when he served as a forest management officer in Cambodia’s South Cardamom Mountain range.
Adventure is at the heart of his story. In 2014, he planned and completed an overland motorcycle expedition from Berlin to Sri Lanka, crossing continents and embracing the thrill of exploration.
Feather Trail is a reflection of his love for the wild, a platform that brings together conservation, adventure, and the appreciation of nature. Through this initiative, Nalaka hopes to inspire others to explore, protect, and reconnect with the natural wo,

Nalaka Indrajith Buddhadasa has always felt most at home in nature. Growing up away from the distractions of city life, he developed a deep connection with the natural world—especially birds. This quiet passion has taken him across different parts of the world, both as a birdwatcher and photographer, seeking out rare and beautiful moments in the wild. His journey has been shaped by a unique blend of experiences—as a former military officer, a senior professional in the private sector, and someone deeply involved in environmental restoration and sustainability
His conservation work includes serving as a Forest Management Officer in Cambodia’s Southern Cardamom Mountains, a region known for its biodiversity and critical ecological importance. Back home in Sri Lanka, he has played a key role in reforestation projects and was instrumental in establishing an equestrian facility at the Sri Lanka Military Academy in 2013, reflecting his long-standing passion for horse riding.
In 2014, Nalaka organized and completed an overland motorcycle expedition from Berlin to Sri Lanka with six friends—an adventure that brought together a love for travel, culture, and the open road.
Feather Trail Sri Lanka was born out of his desire to share the joy of birdwatching with others. It’s more than a company; it’s a personal journey that invites others to slow down and reconnect with nature. With the simple message, “Experience Our Passion,” Feather Trail reflects Nalaka’s belief that the natural world is best understood not through words, but through quiet moments of observation and presence.
